Miroslav Široký was born January 21, 1885 and passed away on October 8, 1872.  He began his football career with Sparta Prague where he played from 1903 until 1906.  That year he made the switch to crosstown rivals Slavia Prague where he stayed until 1913.  He finished off his career with one season at Viktoria Žižkov.  His best time as a footballer was at Slavia, and he was rewarded with his one and only cap against England on June 13, 1908 at Letná Stadium in Prague.  His only cap was not a time for celebration as England ran away 4-0 winners.  According to www.englandstats.com, all players for Bohemia (as referenced by the Czech FA), came from Slavia Prague.

One in One - Part #1 - Jindřich Baumruk

In the first of an on-going series, I will be taking a brief look at all 10 players who have only played one game for Czechoslovakia (or the Czech Republic), but yet scored one goal.

The first player is Jindřich Baumruk who played for Slavia and Sparta Prague at the turn of the century.  He was born September 23, 1881, and came across the sport of football at his local school.  From there he went on to play for Slavia from 1894-1904.  He spent two years with the B team and twelve years with the first team.  In 1904, he made the controversial move to Sparta Prague for one season.  A move that some have speculated caused a big 'fuss' at the time and helped to contribute to the rivalry at the time.  Despite this move, Baumruk was welcomed back to Slavia in 1905, and he retired at the club in 1910.

His only cap for his country came on October 7, 1906 at Letná in Prague when Čechy played Hungary to a 4-4 draw with a crowd of 5,000 looking on.  In this game, he scored his only international goal with his only international cap.  To be fair, only six international matches were played from 1906 to 1910, so he did not have many chances to add to this totals. He also represented his country in ice hockey.
